Anti-Vision
Revues, livres d’artistes et documents imprimés
Past: May 17 → July 12, 2014
“Why not reconstruct one’s inability to see?” asks Robert Smithson in his famous article “Incidents of Mirror-Travel in the Yucatán”, published by the magazine Artforum in September 1969. The exhibition Anti-vision will use this question as common thread through a selection of publications and artists’ books extracted from the BLOOM collection, founded in 2013.
The complete series of Artforum issues where Robert Smithson published eight important articles, before his accidental death in 1973, will introduce the question on the “anti-vision” and the “negative vision” which has guided several different artistic strategies since the late 1960’s. The exhibition presents a collection of artists’ books, posters, printed documents, and exhibitions’ catalogues, including rare pieces sought-after by the bibliophiles.
