On Love and Other Landscapes

Past: January 31 → March 30, 2013

Basma Alsharif born in Kuwait in 1983, lives and works nomadically between the United States, Europe and the Middle East. The subjective experience of statelessness and constant migration is one that informs her work. Mainly producing single-channel videos and installations that incorporate photography, text, and drawing, her projects revolve around the guise of information through a phenomenological approach to the Question of Palestine. For the exhibition she presents for the first time a new short film shot in the Gaza Strip that metaphysically wanders the fortressed city though the pretext of recording a home movie.

Yazan Khalili, born in Syria in 1981, works and lives in Palestine. He combines in his photography his knowledge and his passion for architecture, design, and theoretical studies. The artwork reads as a photographic novel of 91 photographs of Palestinian landscapes. It’s a love story that has ended. It’s questioning the Palestinian landscape, issues of representation and image production, it’s a story on absence and presence…
