Cabinet de Curiosités — Commissariat Nike Bätzner
Exhibition

Cabinet de Curiosités
Commissariat Nike Bätzner
Past: October 27 → December 19, 2015
The cabinet of curiosities is a studiolo, a study room, and a place where disparate, extraordinary, instructive and exotic objects are gathered in order to stir up curiosity. This precursor of the chamber of wonders offers a space of reflection allowing the study of arts, the observation of surprising creations of nature; it is a gathering of curiosities from around the world or unusual souvenirs.
The exhibition Cabinet de Curiosités, in the Studio of galerie laurent mueller, shows works on paper created with various techniques, jewels and hybrid objects, a film, a miniaturised room, collections of natural objects and artefacts, materials of choice as well as objects with significant historical value. Major or minor, design or art, of historical and cultural importance or current discovery: in a cabinet of curiosities, categories may be switched and constantly re-explored according to the angle.
