The Mona Bismarck American Center hosts a Conversation on culture between Ann Temkin and Eric de Chassey around the evolution of Modernism between France and the US. As the holder of the most prestigious position in the field of modern art in the United States, Temkin is known for curating some of the most important exhibitions of the last decade at MoMA including Picasso Sculpture (2015); Jasper Johns: Regrets (2014); Ellsworth Kelly: Chatham Series (2013); and Claes Oldenburg (2013). French art historian and critic, and professor of contemporary art, de Chassey has been the Director of Institut National de l’histoire de l’art since 2016, after having been director of the French Academy of Sciences in Rome. He is widely known for his research on the history of transnational artistic relations, the phenomena of traditions and the links between the work of art and the society in which it takes place.
