Columns

Past: May 26 → July 13, 2018

Over the last fifteen years, Lelong Editions has regularly published collections of stencils and multiples by the English sculptor, David Nash. This exhibition presents the latest developments in this work: four new columns in a variety of forms and colours, but also a triptych of stylised trees (beech, ash, oak) and two red trees. A new multiple in wood, entitled Weathered Lines, will be exhibited along with earlier sculpted multiples.

All these works have been produced by the artist, with the assistance of his son, in his studio in Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales, where he has lived since the early 1970s. The artisanal stencil format allows the artist to produce high quality that are very similar to his drawings and pastels.

David Nash (born in 1945 in Esher, England) has been a member of the Royal Academy since 1999. His work, which is widely present in the leading museums in Europe, America, Australia and Japan, has been the focus of retrospectives at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and at Kew Gardens in England. An exhibition combining sculptures and drawings will be organised this summer at the Fondation Fernet-Branca in Saint Louis in the Alsace region. A retrospective has also been announced for 2019 at the National Museum in Cardiff.
