Our Association Loi 1901 Work in Progress, integrated to the Galerie Nikki Diana Marquardt, has been chosen by the Mairie de Paris *as part of the associated selection of *Nuit Blanche 2012. This 11th edition of the most fast-forward and sought after contemporary art « parcours » will navigate through the Parisian streets on October 6th 2012. « Nuit Blanche » is an annual all-night or night-time arts festival. It has museums, private and public art galleries and other cultural institutions open free of charge, with the center of the city itself being turned into a de facto art gallery, providing space for contemporary art installations, performances…

We are pleased to present you with our avant-garde art project entitled « CALLIGRAFFITI » : a live performance of digital street-art with the participation of street artist eL Seed *and *AKRylonumerik digital performers collective. « Calligraffiti » is a mix of street art and Arabic calligraphy. It is the product of a double marginality: Oriental art seeking a voice in the Western world, and street art just recently starting to legitimize its genuine presence on the contemporary art scene.

Tunisian-born French *eL Seed *emigrated to Canada, he invented the innovative technique of “calligraffiti” (fusion of Arabic calligraphy and spray paint). Leader in the emerging Arabic art scene, he developed another approach using calligraphy as a source of original inspiration.

The group AKRylonumerik is composed of 8 graffiti artists. It relies on a concept of multimedia performance « live », to create a work in progress, unique, visible and live in the moment. They mix all the techniques of expression and the digital mural to create a new and unique cross media.
