Hospice et charité
Les Lazaristes au Collège des Irlandais, 1858-1945

Past: September 12 → November 9, 2014

When Louis XIV gave the Irish ecclesiastical community its first permanent residence in Paris, the new institution was destined to “serve as a college and hospice” for those in need. This exhibition of documents from the Historical Archives recalls the essential role of charity in the College, most particularly during the period that it was administered by Lazarists, a congregation inspired by St Vincent de Paul. This is a valuable opportunity to find out more about the history of the College which served as a refuge and shelter during the wars that punctuated the 19th and 20th centuries.
