Villa Vassilieff is pleased to pre­sent « •— • », a solo exhi­bi­tion of the french artist Mélanie Matranga (b. 1985). The Villa Vassilieff’ exhi­bi­tion space will be entirely filled with Matranga’s works spe­cially designed for the occa­sion.

Through this exhi­bi­tion named by a silent and unpro­nounce­able title, Mélanie Matranga chal­lenges the lan­guage and its limits. Perceived as a prison whose walls widen to the mea­sure of vocab­u­lary that we use, the lan­guage remains always lim­ited, as the time, space or bodies. The bound­aries of the lan­guage nourish the ques­tion of expres­sion, com­mu­ni­ca­tion, self-rep­re­sen­ta­tion and also the def­i­ni­tion of oth­er­ness. With this exhi­bi­tion, Mélanie Matranga tries to play with these bound­aries, con­fuses them or find, naively or des­per­ately, an exit through their con­straints.
