On Foot: Aubervilliers — 24 marches quotidiennes silencieuses par Craig Shepard — Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers — Performance — Slash Paris

Craig Shepard, American composer and walking artist, is invited for the first time in France for a residency at Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers. He proposes an active listening of the city of Aubervilliers and its surroundings, notably through 24 silent daily walks.

The choice of the route is conceived as a partition, playing on the succession of sound atmospheres crossed. The city becomes an orchestra, the promenade a concert.

After a brief statement of the rules (walking together in silence, extinction phones) listeners go on an expedition, all ears, guided by the composer.
A break is held mid-way during which, without breaking the silence, Craig Shepard proceeds to a recording of 30 minutes of the sound environment (“field recording”).
After returning to the starting point, the tour ends with the broadcast and listening, in the room, of the recorded half-hour.
