Pierre Kwenders mixes progressive afrobeat, Congolese rumba and electro, and describes his music as Afrofuturist. It escapes neither his African roots (he was born in Kinshasa), nor the Canadian multiculturism (he lives in Canada). On stage, he sings in lingala, French and English, and speaks of living “in modernity, in the future, in electro”. Major revelation of the independent Canadian scene, and recently nominated to the Juno Awards in the World Music category (Canada Music Awards), the DJ and singer is now touring his debut album Le Dernier Empereur Bantou.

For this Nomadic Night, Pierre Kwenders will play with his quartet, inspired by works of art presented in the exhibition Beauté Congo — 1926-2015 — Congo Kitoko.
