Claire Gastaud Gallery

Guided by her intuition, Claire Gastaud has established a strong yet pluralistic artistic throughline uniting figurative painting, conceptual practice, and other practices derived from land art. Thus the gallerist creates alliances between generations, media, and territories.

Faithful to a figurative history of painting, she represents the works of Cueco, Rémi Blanchard, Erro, Alain Josseau, Fabien Verschaere, Gaël Davrinche, and Léo Dorfner.
Figurative painting is echoed more conceptually by the works of Jean-Charles Eustache, Henni Alftan, and Coraline de Chiara. Claire Gastaud does not hesitate in juxtaposing eras to demonstrate painting’s constant vitality. Constantly seeking out new forms, the gallerist takes daring chances on emerging art, inscribing young artists in the history she creates through her selections and exhibitions. To figurative painting is added a significant interest in more abstract geometric forms. She works with Frank Stella, Vladimir Skoda, Georges Rousse, and Tania Mouraud, artists who deal in an unshakably unique repertoire of forms and writings. Nature, as model and medium, represents the third dimension of the artistic throughline of the gallery, with the works of Nils Udo, Roland Cognet, Anne-Sophie Émard, Bertrand Gadenne, Samuel Rousseau, and Delphine Gigoux-Martin.

Historical and tutelary figures, both French and international, meet their successor generations to write a common history. Claire Gastaud’s selections privilege an experience of the gaze through singular, socially engaged artistic practices, in phase with the world of today.
