Large

Located at Pointe des Arts on Île Seguin, Large is a venue dedicated to contemporary art, run by an association chaired by Laurent Dumas and directed by Paula Aisemberg. Its creation is part of the various initiatives undertaken by the Emerige group in support of contemporary artistic creation, including the Révélations Emerige Grant, “1 Immeuble, 1 Œuvre” and the Trampoline association.

Large focuses primarily on the diversity of the French contemporary art scene, bringing together emerging artists and established figures from the 20th and 21st centuries, whether French or living and working in France. The production of new works is one of the venue’s main areas of activity, conceived as a space for experimentation that complements the exhibition. For its opening, seventeen new works were commissioned from the artists presented.

The program is divided into two annual seasons and favors large scale solo and thematic exhibitions. Conceived as journeys and narratives, these exhibitions seek to bring works into dialogue from different perspectives, combining curatorial research with attention to the visitor experience.

Large also plans collaborations with public and private institutions, as well as initiatives designed to broaden access to contemporary art. Part of its public spaces is freely accessible, while its pricing policy places significant emphasis on free admission. The venue thus seeks to anchor its activities within the local area and encourage encounters with audiences of diverse backgrounds and varying degrees of familiarity with contemporary art.
