Paris Photo 2015 — Rendez-vous les 28 et 29 novembre dans les galeries parisiennes

In collaboration and with the support of Paris Photo, participating galleries will be exceptionally open from 10am-8pm Saturday and Sunday November 28-29th. This will be the occasion for collectors and photography aficionados who did not have the opportunity to visit the fair at the Grand Palais, to discover these exceptional artworks within the galleries.

Toshio Shibata — The Abstraction of Space

Technicien hors pair, Toshio Shibata abandonne définitivement le noir et blanc en 2005 pour se consacrer à la couleur. Un langage renouvelé qui permet à l’artiste de produire des images qui s’apparentent à des collages hybrides. Conséquence de cette évolution et fil conducteur de l’exposition : les images de Toshio Shibata quittent le figuratif pour développer un langage quasi abstrait.

Because Jean-Marie Périer developed strong relationships with each of these artists who went on to become worldwide phenomena, he was able to step into their private lives. Cycle Daido Moriyama — Part. III : Sérigraphies

In 1967, Andy Warhol’s silkscreens were exhibited for the first time in Japan. 29-year-old Daido Moriyama showed an immediate interest for this artisanal technique, which he saw as an obvious extension of photography.

Cycle Daido Moriyama — Part. II : Paris
Past: November 14 → 22, 2012
Form 1988 to 1990, Daido Moriyama lived in Paris first on rue Mouffetard, then on rue du Cherche-midi. In 1999, photographs from his stay were published, almost confidentially, in the “Visions of Japan” collection curated by Japanese editor Korinsha. Polka Galerie is proud to present a selection of thirty prints from this series never exhibited before.

Cycle Daido Moriyama — Part. I : Hokkaido-Northern
Past: September 13 → November 6, 2012
In the aftermath of World War II, Japan was a wounded nation. The havoc wreaked by the war still prohibited any kind of travel across the country. While reading school books and magazines, young Moriyama came across the names of the cities of Hokkaido, the archipelago’s large northern island. These names echoed in his mind as exotic a destination.
