Hieronymus Cock — La gravure à la Renaissance

Hieronymus Cock (1518-1570) was the greatest and most innovative print publisher the Low Countries have ever known. He set up his business in the house known as Aux quatre vents (‘In the Four W inds’) in Antwerp, where the first prints rolled off the presses in 1548.

Paris was where it was at. It was the place to be. For decades the sparkling nightlife and intellectual ferment of the French capital attracted writers and artists from around the world. Among them were Dutch photographers, who flocked to Paris to capture romantic images of life in the streets of the city.

Un Univers Intime — Tableaux de la collection Frits Lugt

Un Univers intime presents 115 paintings of the Frits Lugt Collection. Created with great discernment, it comprises masterpieces of the Dutch Golden Age, together with Flemish, Italian, French and Danish paintings (Maes, Teniers, Guardi, Largillière, Isabey, Bonington…), and sketches acquired in the past 2 years through a dynamic acquisition policy.

Dessins contemporains surréalistes de Rotterdam

The present exhibition includes some seventy works that illustrate the recent focus of the museum on contemporary drawings, with the accent on work with a surrealistic mentality. All these drawings are rooted in some form of automatic imagination. They feature an almost outsider-like concentration, and strive to create their own world view.
