Bianca Bondi
Preferring to work directly in situ or otherwise with elements that have passed through many hands, for Bondi the process of creation remains deeply intuitive. She works with a specific list of ingredients− salt, latex, earth, copper, chalk− and then adapts these elements to the situation at hand. Her work draws influence from the writings of Carl Jung, as well as concepts such as animism, spiritism, and the occult sciences. Born in 1986 in Johannesburg, South Africa, Bondi is based in Paris, France where she completed her studies at l’ENSAPC in 2012. Her work has been exhibited in Poland at Ujazdowski Centre of Contemporary Art, in multiple locations across France, the US, as well as in Belgium, South Africa, Cameroon, and most recently at Galerist in Istanbul, Turkey.
