My work questions the process of commemoration and ritual in a post industrial manner, using basic materials from the shop around the corner, non resistant and impermanent : chipboard, MDF, plasterboard, fruits, concrete, and covering material such as adhesive paper and paint. Considering how Postmodernism includes obsolete shapes in everyone’s life (furniture, technologies), it reflects a deep separation with our inner relation from oblivion and the death. It seems that the more our society embraces the technological era, the more we feel cut from our common past and future. Therefore I build objects of contemplation, memorial pieces made from pre-fab kit. With a dose of humor, I like to mimic industrial forms with my hand, a DIY grave by IKEA so to speak, just to point out the civilized alienation we endure and enjoy.
