Danielle Orchard
Danielle Orchard is an American artist who works, through the cubist style of her painting, to explore the modes of representation of women and the nude. Drawing her vocabulary from a visual lexicon strongly imbued with art history, she tests the formal narration of her stagings to invade the contemporary problematic of appearance and the modalities of desire.
Flesh, food, flowers and furniture intertwine in his paintings with the obsessive meticulousness of the assumed composition. Each frame calibrates its elements to manage its effects; erotic languor collides with the sharp angles of everyday banality, simple gestures are shrouded in mystery and a fixation that propels them into the allegorical horizon of a rearranged mythology.
As if they were blunt, the organs draw a cartography of suspended lives, where the very fact of being in the world collides and acts on the gaze of the spectator-voyeur. The model then escapes its status as a reproducible piece to embrace a singularity that frees it from any reification and assumes the share of risk necessary for any desire for emancipation.
