Emmanuel Le Cerf’s work is centered on the research and discovery of new visual materials. Exploring technical knowledge and diverting the hidden processes at the starting point of the images, the artist, as an alchemist, questions the materials used in photography. Through a subtle balance between chemical substances and the sensitive material of his imagination, the artist reinvents our relation to the image, its materiality, its temporality, as well as its connection to space. When he conceive his installations, he works with the spaciality of the spectactor’s presence because without witness there is no images, no memories and no questions.
