L’insoutenable légèreté — Les années 1980

Heterogeneous, elusive, painful, fantastical, still too close, as light-hearted as they were serious, the Eighties were full of contrasts and paradoxes. With films and photographs from its collections, the Centre Pompidou cast a fresh eye on this decade in an exhibition featuring over 20 artists and some 60 works in a completely new circuit.

Karen Knorr — Monogatari

Karen Knorr has been exploring and learning about Japanese heritage culture travelling to Tokyo, Kyoto. She has been working on two series: “Karyukai” focuses on portraiture and “Monogatari” places animals and people on architectural sites which serve as witnesses of an ancestral legacy that still pervades Japanese life today.

This exhibition evokes a theatre where women play all the possible roles from the direction through the action itself. The stage varies: the interior of a bourgeois villa, the rooms of an abandoned house where stories seep out of walls and furniture, or within an artist’s or a photographer’s studio.
