Le Corbusier
From 1925, while working on the Pavillon de l’Esprit Nouveau, Le Corbusier was concerned about the problem of furniture which must perfectly suit the interior spaces. In 1929, he sketched furniture drawings, at le Salon d’Automne, in collaboration with Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, showing several models such as the chaise longue and the LC2 armchair, table and bookshelves.
In 1950, in addition to the redaction of « Modulor I », he started to create the furniture sets in collaboration with Charlotte Perriand for la Cité Radieuse in Marseille, la Maison du Brésil and la Cité Universitaire in Paris.
Le Corbusier is one of the contemporary design pioneers as well as Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret.
