The title of his first solo exhibition at Semiose, Chant d’Amour, refers to Jean Genet’s film and emphasizes the literary & cinematographic influences that infuse Xie Lei’s highly sensitive universe. In its paintings, the subject matter intrigues through its exploration of the in-between world betwixt sleep & death or torment & eroticism.

If the city of tomorrow is taking form on the coasts, frontiers and jungles of today’s Europe, then gratitude and hospitality are not its founding pillars. Just as the fact of welcoming the other can be envisaged only because it is prevented, then hospitality today is countered, or even illegal.

L’École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts présente chaque année dans les galeries d’exposition du quai Malaquais une exposition collective des jeunes artistes ayant obtenu le diplôme national supérieur d’arts plastiques (Dnsap) avec les félicitations du jury. En 2010, 22 artistes ont été félicités.
