For this new season’s opening carte blanche has been given to Roven — Johana Carrier and Marine Pagès on a proposal by Madeleine Mathé.

“The forms of the world” are entirely contained within a drawing. This statement is particularly true of the works gathered here. Using this idea as our point of departure, and guided by our intuition, we formed the group consisting of Io Burgard, Matthieu Cossé, and Dirk Zoete. These three artists share drawing as the backbone to their multifaceted work, one filled with many coming and goings.

Drawing is the vector that sets everything into motion. It expands, turns toward other mediums or within itself, generating further works that nourish it again in return. It represents a passage, perhaps even a shift between different states, motifs, techniques, and forms. From drawing to form or photography, on the wall, between 2D and 3D — the work originates from and returns to drawing.
