Filip Francis is no newcomer to France. Belgian artist, he has shown several times in group shows in Bordeaux, Dôle, Montpellier, Montreuil, Sète, Toulouse and did one solo exhibition at Verney-Carron’s gallery in 1992, in Lyon.

Filip Francis pushes the limit of the human field of vision in his painting. While his early works largely look at the themes of time and space, chance, and chain reaction, he soon chose to focus on image production values, such as vision, movement, knowledge, and memory.

One of the particularities of his can be found in their titles, which always contain the process used. The artist paints motifs using only his periphery vision, while focusing his gaze on a fixed point on the canvas.

His works figure in the collections of the Museum voor Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen, the Museum für Zeitgenössische Kunst Eupen, the Institut d’art contemporain de Villeurbanne in the Rhone-Alpes region of France and in the the regional art funds of Amiens, Besançon and Montpellier.

Filip Francis was born in 1944 in Duffel (Anvers). He lives and works in Brussels.
