Elika Hedayat
Exhibition
Elika Hedayat
Past: February 5 → March 12, 2011
Elika Hedayat, an iranian artist, puts a critical and engaged glance on the political reality of her country. Her threatened identity, drives her to lead a fight against the disparities and the censorship. Elika uses sarcasm and cynicism to ridicule the greediness of the power men. She establishes a universe which puts in balance the innocence of the childhood in front of the violence of the world.
“I am really interested in the reports of current events, the interviews, and the way we arrest them. I often archive some documentation, observations, testimonies, which become the raw material of my movies and which I try to appropriate in my imaginary world.”
Elika Hedayat makes use of various mediums : videos, sound installations, drawings, performances. For this exhibition, Elika Hedayat joins to Tamara Erde, an israeli artist, in a “performance in duet” to deliver us the secrets of the elaboration of a thought in development, where the spectator sees the realization of a work in becoming.
This artistic duet — two young women, Iranian and Israeli — forbidden in the territory of the one and the other one, meets and has a dialogue through a common work.
