Émilie Brout & Maxime Marion — Moëra
Exhibition
Émilie Brout & Maxime Marion
Moëra
Ends in about 2 months: September 11 → November 28, 2026
Émilie Brout & Maxime Marion have been working as an artist duo since their studies at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Their work often draws its aesthetic from the visual culture of the web and is grounded in extensive theoretical and iconographic research on contemporary technologies, as well as on the uses and imaginaries associated with the digital realm.
The Moëra exhibition centers on a large-scale digital and collaborative installation, created using a video game engine. Presented as a sanctuary reminiscent of a romantic garden, the central work brings together the creative worlds of several artists and is complemented by numerous pieces created by various guest artists throughout the art center.
In a meditative atmosphere, Émilie Brout & Maxime Marion explore our relationship with the virtual and the real, as well as with identity and self-representation. Drawing inspiration from new forms of online communication, they present a multi-voiced installation that invites viewers to both contemplate and participate.
The exhibition will extend beyond the gallery walls through a dedicated website where visitors can interact with the world of Moëra and explore the work of the guest artists in greater detail.
Moëra follows on the research initiated by Émilie Brout & Maxime Marion during their residency at Villa Kujoyama in 2025, as does s3lf.tech, presented concurrently at 40mcube in Rennes from June 6 to December 19, 2026.
Moëra is part of the Mirages exhibition series, taking place from September 16 to 20, 2026, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Stéréolux artwork from the Moëra in Nantes.
