Penser l’exotisme, l’altérité et la pluralité des mondes : anthropologie, philosophie, poésie.
Past: Tuesday, May 12, 2015
Francis Affergan is one of the most original French anthropologists. His work incorporates three rarely united dimensions: anthropology, philosophy and poetry. He is one of the leading specialists in Martinique, where he carried out an in-depth ethnological inquiry into the historicity, the contradictions and the subtleties of Martinique culture. In parallel, Francis Affergan has also led a discussion on anthropology today, at a historic moment in the pluralisation of global cultures. Also a poet, Francis Affergan has had work published in the journal Po&sie in 2009 and 2012. His poetry is also a basic anthropology, as it shows an image of man thrown into the world, lost in nature.
Organized by Erwan Dianteill, Professor of anthropology, The University Paris Descartes Sorbonne, the IUF in collaboration with the department of Research and Education at the musée du quai Branly.
