Grace Weir
The Meta-perception Club

Past: February 6 → 18, 2015

Grace Weir’s films explore the limitations of our visual abilities Working primarily in the moving image, both of Grace Weir’s films on exhibition — _Dust defying gravity_ (2004) and A deep field for the time deaf (2007) — explore the limitations of our visual abilities and the instruments we use to enhance them.

Grace Weir represented Ireland at the 49th International Venice Biennale and has exhibited widely nationally and internationally. Her work is often concerned with examining facts not as objective certitudes in the world but as processes, as complicated mediations between direct experience and theoretical concepts.

Opening night and Happening, jeudi 5 February, 6.30pm — 8.30pm

This, the Meta-perception Club’s second ‘Happening’, will see the launch of an exhibition of two films by Grace Weir. Our artists in residence Cleary Connolly present two installations as well as their Meta-perceptual helmets for those who haven’t yet experienced the vision of a giraffe or a hammerhead shark ! Performances by jazz musician-in-residence Ronan Guilfoyle, Fabrice Naud on the theremin (an instrument played without physical contact…), sound artists Dinah Bird and Jean-Philippe Renoult, poet Dave Lordan, and philosopher/cheesemonger Hervé Binet will appeal to all our different senses.
