Les filles du calvaire gallery is pleased to announce “Je suis contre!”, a solo exhibition by the duo Art Orienté Objet in our new gallery at 21 rue Chapon, Paris. Following their acclaimed monographic exhibition at the Domaine de Chamarande this year, Marion Laval-Jeantet & Benoît Mangin are presenting recent pieces and installations at the gallery.

“Since our beginnings in 1991, we have conceived art that is committed to biodiversity and ecology. Here, through a series of surprising and dissonant objects that bear witness to this commitment, we confront the viewer with his or her deepest convictions, not without a vital and sometimes caustic sense of humor. Each “against” stance appeals to the viewer, offering an unexpected slice of reality likely to make them think, dream or even laugh; all unique experiences that we believe should trigger a dual emotion, endearing and repulsive, exciting and disturbing, in keeping with our perception of a world subject to constant updating.

Behind our artistic outbursts, whose complex aesthetics act as an eye-catcher, we speak of this new state into which we are plunged: one that requires a vivid and constant reaction. And, in so doing, we are questioning our ability to take the time to contemplate, feel, think and position ourselves, without concern for political correctness.
