50 peintures — L’oeil en promenade

In 2 days: February 5 → 14, 2026

In response to the publication of the book L’oeil en promenade, Jean Brault presents a series of recent works at the Berthet-Aittouarès Gallery.

“My work is a representation of the world, parallel to the world, not realistic. The subjects are always the same: landscape, nude, still life. From the chaos of the world, I extract fragments that I stylize, that I embellish. I need strong lines, structure—perhaps that is where an abstract truth lies, the transcendence of the image through painting. It is in this transition, in this relationship to the thing, at the heart of this transformation, that the subject—the image—becomes the painting, the abstract truth. The collection of paintings tells a story with diverse developments. These thematic groupings respond to each other and create an imaginary world to be shared with the viewer, according to their visual culture, their own experiences, their time of the image.”
