Painting

Jean Pierre Schneider
De terre et d’eau

Past: February 14 → March 20, 2013

In echo to the exhibition dedicated to Jean Pierre Schneider at the Musée Vendôme, during the period from March the 8th to June the 3th, the Berthet-Aittouarès gallery presents a selection of the last pieces of the artist.

After le Funambule and Olympia, landscapes are used as a pretext for this new appointment. There are earth and water landscapes put under the name of Grandes Terres and Chutes de mai. It is beyond the simple representation of nature, it is a metaphor of the elements.

While the Grandes Terres keep to horizontality and to an infinite linearity, les Chutes de mai introduce a verticality that defines space and gives birth to a new temporality.
