Focus à l’occasion de Drawing Now 2026
Starts today: March 25 → 28, 2026
Pieter Jennes is a Flemish artist whose paintings and collages are distinguished by their vivid colors, meticulous details, and sensitive storytelling. Inspired by nature and everyday scenes, he explores universal themes such as love, desire, and memory. On the occasion of the Drawing Now fair, Semiose presents a focus on his drawn and collaged works, remarkable for their inventiveness and technique.
His universe blends humans, animals, and landscapes in compositions reminiscent of theatrical sets, influenced by medieval miniatures. Jennes places nature at the center of his work, describing it as “teeming with life,” particularly at the end of summer. Birds, recurring figures, embody both a discreet form of witness and a sense of freedom in defiance of gravity. Between the gentleness of his subjects and the tension of his techniques—such as the use of staples in his collages—his work creates a deeply expressive and poetic contrast.
