For this session of the Poésie Plate-forme season, entitled « Performing », we are pleased to welcome Amanda Langlet and Marie Rivière, two actresses particularly known for their work under the direction of Éric Rohmer.

In Éric Rohmer’s cinema, where words are both objects of intelligence and beauty, as well as the driving force of the action, freedom — born out of restriction — provides the actor with the potential for extraordinary latitude. It is this specific conjunction between a very crafted — although sometimes improvised — text and the personalities of its performers that creates the ‘matter’ so specific to his films.

From Perceval le Gallois to Triple Agent, from The Aviator’s Wife and Pauline at the Beach to Romance of Astree and Celadon, along with The Green Ray and Tales of Summer and Autumn, the filmmaker was particularly loyal to these two remarkable and emblematic actresses.
