Czech writer and painter Josef Čapek invented the word ROBOT for the science-fiction theatre play of his brither, Karel. The abbreviation means Robots Universala of Rossum.
Those times, robots were regarded as a threat for employees, traditional handcraft and fabrication, today they play the essential part in european handcraft and innovation.
Czech brand Bomma cooperates with Arik Levy, Prague Academy of Arts and studio Olgoj Chorchoj to rediscover the importance of robots for the fabrication.
Bomma collaborates with the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague for Maison & Objet.
Designer Duo Olgoj Chorchoj head the Academy’s class for product design. They are Bomma’s Creative Directors and place Czech craftsmanship and technology in the international design context.
