“Imagine that you’re crossing through a forest. Imagine a very ancient forest. Imagine a domestic forest. Imagine a familiar forest. A strange forest. A Snow White sort of forest. Imagine an oil painting of a forest. It’s night, so you make a fire. You imagine prehistoric times. Imagine prehistory but without the prehistoric men, nor the mammoths, nor the tigers. Retain just the idea of a cave. Try to keep the image of the cave as the only image. When you’ve done that, you can light a fire.”

The artistic duo Studio 21bis finds the echo of their environmental, cultural and existential reflections in cardboard, their preferred material of creation. They use cardboard to construct fragile objects and ephemeral installations that appear in urban spaces, questioning our relationship to habitat, to the public and private spheres.

After Les Ambassades and La Kabane, Où, Quand, Comment ? (Where, When, How ?) is the third collaboration of Studio 21bis with Khiasma. For this occasion the duo has temporarily left the streets to create a work that encompasses the entirety of the Khiasma space.
