Orel Art Gallery

The Paris-based Orel Art Gallery stands at the forefront of the innovative contemporary art market. Since its inception in 2001, the gallery has presented the work of today’s most significant Russian artists in almost forty solo shows and six group exhibitions.

In 2009, Orel Art opens in London in a 350m2 space at 7 Howick Place SW1.

Taking an instrumental role in bringing post-Soviet art and its protagonists to a wider western audience, Director Ilona Orel has supported the careers of V. Dubossarsky & A. Vinogradov, Andrei Molodkin, Georgy Gurianov, Komar & Melamid, Valery Koshlyakov, Yuri Shabelnikov, Aidan Salakhova, Olga Tobreluts and Arsen Savadov.

Her pioneering exhibition programme also provides a unique international platform for lesser known emerging artists such as Dasha Fursey, Sergey Shekhovtsov and Chtak.

Beyond its gallery-based curatorial projects, the Orel Art Gallery has fostered successful collaborations with a number of reputed European museums, including the Tretiakov National Gallery in Moscow, National Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg and MACRO in Roma, Casino Luxembourg along with the Moscow Biennale. Her stable of artists has entered the prestigious collections of the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the Guggenheim Museum in New York and Bilbao, the Martin-Gropius Bau in Berlin and the MAK Museum in Vienna, amongst others.

Today, the Orel Art Gallery is focused on forging new partnerships between leading contemporary Russian artists and international figures, such as László Fehér, Raffaella Nappo, Stephen J. Shanabrook, Rupert Shrive and Ivan Messac.
