Temporary Boundary — A survey on China censured videos and photographs

Grand opening of the new gallery in Paris — Korean Shape

Galerie Paris-Beijing opens a new space in Paris / Haut Marais neighbourhood. The will to grow in size was mixed with the desire of presenting large-scales exhibitions. The new Parisian gallery’s 400 m2 will allow an extended programme including sculpture, installation and video art.

Ma Sibo — There will be light

Ma Sibo’s canvases show us fragments of intimate landscapes, like windows into the soul. In places, purged of all human presence, sensations are elicited by things and colors. Indeed, Ma Sibo’s brushes envelope inert objects with an emotional aura, awakening distant memories and a vague nostalgia.

Yang Yongliang — The Silent Valley

Laurent Chéhère — Flying Houses

Employing traditional photography and digital manipulation, his surreal series, “Flying Houses”, elevates architecture to a new level. The artist takes a variety of residential structures out of their defining neighbourhood backdrops. Released from their choked streets, the houses float amidst the clouds, like kites.

The Family Tree 2.0 — Nandan Ghiya

The Galerie Paris-Beijing presents the indian artist Nandan Ghiya. The project deFacebook employs a number of old portrait photographs of different sizes from various parts of Rajasthan. Each portrait has been painted with square blocks to “pixelate” the faces.

Chen Jiagang — Diseased Cities

The Chinese artist Chen Jiagang focuses his research on the urban and industrial transformations occurring in contemporary China. Diseased Cities, his last work, presents a series of photographs depicting the human and environmental landscape around the Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest hydroelectric power station completed between 2006 and 2009.

Song Chao — Back and Forth

The work and personal history of Song Chao are atypical background. The young man was a pit worker in Shandong, Northern China, when he realized that photography was his true vocation. He began taking pictures of his workmates during the rare moments of pause.

Yang Yongliang — La Source aux Fleurs de Pêcher

Heavenly City — Yang Yongliang

Yang Yongliang is a Shanghainese artist who studied traditional Chinese art such as shui mo painting, “cun” from an early age. His stunning compilations of thousands of tiny photographic images combine his personal interests within the compositional style of Chinese traditional paintings and present a ’New Classic’ artistic expression.
