For although the eighty-two-year-old New York photographer has seen his career effectively hidden by the bulky legend of Robert Frank, author of the 1958 book, "The Americans. Kaplan would have to wait until 2005 for galleries to take an interest in his life’s work and give it exposure and recognition.

Ce travail en couleur, loin d’être nostalgique, nous fait redécouvrir une Amérique des années 80, non pas celle des grands mythes fondateurs mais celle d’une ville moyenne, Binghamton dans l’état de New York, là où Wrighton résidait.
