Joël Andrianomearisoa is changing the secret rhythm of Maison Revue Noire, investing the space with his Sentimental Act II exhibition: installations, objects, images and videos, aided by some friends and accomplices.

Sentimental Act II is a sensorial exploration, an interaction, an experimentation with each person. A constantly evolving laboratory with encounters and elements in movement. A world unique to the artist, infused with a duality where sweetness and caresses sometimes encounter coldness and fragility. It concerns sentiment, desire and even the body !

“Love is nothing without sentiment. And sentiment is even less without love.”

Laurence Sterne, A Sentimental Journey, 1768-1769

In cultivating this ambiguity, Joël Andrianomearisoa presents us with the collective construction of an obsessional sentimental architecture, sensual and sometimes sombre.

Joël Andrianomeariosa was born in 1977 in Madagascar, and lives and works between Paris and Antananarivo. After training as an architect, he tried expressing himself in all modern forms of art. If there’s a common theme to his work, it’s probably space — space in performance, space in videos and bodies, spaces in fabrics and materials — textiles, paper, wood. Joël Andrianomearisoa’s work has been shown in numerous international exhibitions and is present in several public and private collections.
