Alain Delorme
Alain Delorme lives and works in Paris, France. This French photographer graduated from the École des Gobelins and then pursued a Master’s Degree in Photography from the Université de Paris VIII.
He has practiced fine art photography since 2003. Delorme’s work explores the impact of globalization and consumerism on the individual — with emphasis on the effects of normalization and standardization. He uses digital photography and photomontage to offer graphically striking photographs, saturated with color. Oscillating between realism and fiction, the purposeful departure from reality leads us to observe what is “real” more critically and to question the norms of contemporary society.
In 2007, Delorme was awarded the Arcimboldo Prize for his Little Dolls series. He was also nominated to the 2014 Pictet Prize (Consumption) for his Totems series. Hiswork has been widely exhibited in solo and group shows in Europe and Asia. He also took part in different photo festivals around the world, such as the International Festival of Photography in Seoul or the Festival Image in Vevey.
