I‘m interested in artistic production and its evaluation by the artist, the beholder and the arts business: Idea, material, light.

A material with brilliant sensuousness, with advantageous and disadvantageous technical properties, with purchase value and ideal value, encounters situations in which it is altered, in which it may become from worthless or highly priced or vice versa. The following parameters are central: Audience, gravitation, architecture, and the material‘s properties. Alteration of this nature can best be described with the terms “hanging and falling”. Yet these two terms also refer to the artist‘s dependence on the arts business — with all its market aspects —, as well as on the relation between work of art and beholder. “Safe values” and seemingly sedate notions as‚ image‚ object, sculpture, drawing, frame, pedestal, scripture are challenged and reevaluated.
