For his big return to L’ahah, Vincent Hawkins will take over the association’s two exhibition spaces, #Griset and #Moret, at the heart of the 11th arrondissement, Paris, with a double soloshow, Planet & Satellites.

The British artist, whom L’ahah has accompanied since it was created in 2017, offers a unique journey through the different facets of his pictorial practice — whether it be on cardboard, paper or canvas, using various formats ranging from the modest portrait scale to that of history paintings.

Shown side by side for the first time, they all contain within them — in the hollow of
his volumes’ folds, in the darkness of his nighttime paintings, in the almost mystical composition of his recent works, the secret of a hidden form, bearing countless others…

This exhibition will be accompanied by a text, written for the occasion by Reverend Richard Davey, senior researcher fellow at the School of Art & Design of the Nottingham Trent University.

Born in 1959, Vincent Hawkins lives and works in London, UK. Vincent Hawkins has had numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally, including: 2008 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, 2011 at the Artary Gallery in Stuttgart, 2013 at the Art Museum in Terrance, California and at the Dan Devening Projects in Chicago, 2019 at the Sid Motion Gallery in London, 2020 at the Galerie Bertoux-Vidal in Paris. In 2022, he took part in the L’art dans les chapelles programme, curated by Éric Suchère. Supported by the Sid Motion Gallery, London, Vincent Hawkins has been accompanied by L’ahah since its creation in 2017, where he had a solo exhibition entitled Growing a Soul in 2019.
