La Forêt Usagère — Une proposition d’Aurélien Mole

“Working Forest” is an initiative by Aurélien Mole, in collaboration with other artists. The title of the exhibition results from a discussion with Dominique Blais around a project by Patrick Bernier and Olive Martin whose subject was a forest in the Southwest of France, unique by being shared with several towns.

The second “Printemps des Laboratoires” is organised around the subjects of art and work. It particularly focuses on a rejection of work as a questioning of production systems and the value of art, of the relationship between the artist, art production and the institution and also of the artist as a worker.

Adieu tristesse, désir, ennui, appétit, plaisir
Past: February 22 → April 19, 2014
‘Goodbye Sadness, Desire, Lassitude, Appetite, Pleasure’ is the follow-up to the exhibition whose near-identical title began with ‘Hello’, the two bookending a season devoted to “forms of affects”. By contrast, the artist involves other people, raising the issue of defining oneself in relation to others in terms of common shared affects.

Historico vagabond

Historico-vagabond seeks to create a temporal paradox. Rewriting history is a potential tool for positive change. Rather than looking toward the future as the modernist utopias did, by travelling back in time to create a deviation and then offering an alternate timeline, we might change the past with the effect of magnifying the present.

L’exposition se fonde sur un postulat formulé par Allan Kaprow : « La ligne entre l’art et la vie devrait être aussi fluide et peut-être même aussi vague que possible ». Si cette confusion affirmée de l’art et de la vie a pu agir comme un précepte en art, elle a aussi généré une fluidité de relation entre acteurs et spectateurs.
