Fabienne Verdier
Born in Paris in 1962, Fabienne Verdier graduated from the Toulouse Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1983. In the same year, she obtained the first Chinese study grant under the twinning arrangement between the cities of Chongquing (China) and Toulouse. She travelled to China to study for a higher degree in art at the Sichuan Institute of Arts, graduating in 1989 with a prize of excellence.
Between 1989 and 1998, exhibitions of Fabienne Verdier’s work were held alternatively in France and Asia in spaces such as the Institute of Fine Arts in Beijing (1989), the China Center in Paris (1992) and the Contemporary Art Center in Hongkong (1993).
In 2003, Ariane Dandois held an exhibition of Fabienne Verdier’s work in her gallery and Alice Pauli organized an exhibition in Lausanne. From that point on, her work entered prestigious collections, both public (Musée Cernuschi, Musée national d’Art moderne, Centre Pompidou) and private (H. Looser Foundation, E. de Rotschild Collection, François Pinault Collection).
The french publisher Albin Michel published in 2007 an important monography on Fabienne Verdier’s paintings, intitled Between Heaven and Earth.
