Yusuf Sevinçli — Oculus
Past: November 30, 2018 → January 12, 2019
Oculus is the second solo exhibition by Yusuf Sevinçli at the Galerie des Filles du Calvaire. Five years separate it from Post, the solo show which revealed him to Parisian art lovers in 2013. Five years in which Yusuf, born in Turkey in 1980, has never stopped tracking, no matter where in the world, a single and same black light.

Best off the wall on the gallery wall

This project comes from a desire to materialize the collaboration between Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire and the photography book-magazine “OFF the wall” over a summer exhibition. It will also be the opportunity to hold a group show on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the gallery and the last issues of the magazine.

Yusuf Sevinçli

Yusuf Sevinçli’s images have the striking uniqueness of the “survivor”, in the sense that he gleans pictures by chance and welcomes the most unexpected gifts life offers him. His contrasted black and whites, with thick grain and scratched surfaces, have a timeless dimension that refers to the fleetingness of our everyday life.
