Jesper Just
Exhibition
Jesper Just
Past: June 24 → September 13, 2015
For his Palais de Tokyo solo exhibition, Jesper Just (born 1974, lives in New York) has created a new installation which combines multiple videos, music and a spatial intervention.
In his film work, Jesper Just links images of an exceptional quality to sounds and music, which play a decisive role in the film, to ask questions about feelings and human relations, desire, gender, identity, but also space and society. The enigma disrupts the narrative, creating a tension which lets the poetry of the space emerge. Jesper Just does not provide a solution in his narrative but leaves the observer with his own questions and emotions.
In the lower gallery at Palais de Tokyo, Jesper Just create an audiovisual installation and a vast spatial intervention which will transform the existing space and the visitor journey. The videos, at once independent and interconnected, explore the idea that the metropolis is an entity with a body as a starting point for examining the concepts of ableism and disability, and challenging the limits of individuality. The videos will follow two characters who have seemingly different physical appearances but are linked by the presence and manipulation of the sound.
Jesper Just (born 1974, lives in New York) is an internationally-renowned artist. He graduated in 2003 from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and represented Denmark in the 55th Venice Biennale in 2013.
