Monia Ben Hamouda — Post-Scriptum
Exhibition

Monia Ben Hamouda
Post-Scriptum
In 6 days: Sunday, October 12, 2025
From october 12th to January 25th, 2026
Born in 1991 in Milan, Tunisian-Italian artist Monia Ben Hamouda will inaugurate her first solo exhibition in France at La Ferme du Buisson’s Contemporary Art Centre.
Ben Hamouda’s artistic practice is deeply influenced by her cultural heritage and notably Islamic calligraphy, which she was taught by her father. In creative interplay with the aniconic tradition (which relinquishes figurative or image-based representations in favour of text or ornament), she explores the evolving relationships between the art history of the Middle East and that of Western Europe.
Often immersive, sometimes monumental, her sculptures and installations combine classical materials from the history of art (metal, wood, etc.) with spices which pervade the exhibition spaces with scents and colours.
Post-Scriptum introduces a series of newly produced pieces connected to themes of posterity, language and time. These draw inspiration from Najdi poetry : a pre-Islamic, oral literary tradition fashioned by nomadic poets from the Arabian Peninsula. The exhibition will conjure up notions of loss and burial as it partially blankets the spaces of the art centre.
Monia Ben Hamouda is represented by ChertLüdde in Berlin and Selma Feriani Gallery in Tunis and London.
