Bruno Metra & Laurence Jeanson — ID
Past: November 16, 2013 → January 4, 2014
This is the first exhibition of photographic works by the artist duo Bruno Metra & Laurence Jeanson. Called ID, the series question the fragility of individual identity against the diktats imposed by the society of images. They work without any retouch, directly, scalpel scissors, scotch, a artistic surgery emergency performed, reinventing the patient’s identity.

Alicia Paz — Garden of Follies
Past: October 5 → November 9, 2013
Akin to improbable gardens, where ancient myths and fantastical narratives intertwine, the new works by Alicia Paz allow us to discover an exuberant flora and fauna, a sumptuous amalgam composed of paint, paper, and found objects. The female figure is the central protagonist in this fictional world, at once mysterious and playful.

Arturo Hernández Alcázar — Present is a Burning Building
Past: March 16 → June 1, 2013
“Present is a Burning Building” is the first exhibition by Arturo Hernández Alcázar in France. As a derivative sequence of encounters and reflections, the artist’s works are composed by rests and fragments collected and assembled during those apparently non-purpose drifts articulated with specific contexts: a sort of interference introduced in a specific wave.

Folkert de Jong — The Immortals
Past: September 1 → October 13, 2012
Folkert de Jong belongs to an interconnected world which to a large extent shares the same filmic, TV and art references, not to mention the same sets of problems. Vivid as they may be, de Jong’s groups always emanate an elusive melancholy — Sébastien Gokalp.

Bayrol Jimenez — The Roads of Devotion
Past: March 17 → April 28, 2012
The Roads of Devotion is Bayrol Jimenez’ first solo exhibition at the gallery. While radically disparate, his work is driven mainly by drawing. The ease and freedom of his manner have their roots partially in the Mexican tradition of drawing that’s virtuosic and visually imposing, but they also blossom in his extending practice of installations.

Go tell fire

Emmanuel Barcilon
Past: December 8, 2011 → January 14, 2012
In each work, the reflexivity of the artist’s chosen support — sprinkled with light revelations — parallels the artist’s quest; he finishes by discovering, among the many forgotten strata, the perfect gap, a window within all the colors. His search for surprises yields an opportunity: the fugitive beauty of the being of the painting.

Nicholas Di Genova — Preemptive Evolution
Past: November 10 → December 3, 2011
Dukan Hourdequin gallery presents the solo exhibition in France by Canadian artist Nicholas Di Genova. Di Genova has developed a unique practice that is as firmly rooted in the utterly fantastical as it is in the deeply scientific. His depictions of hybrid creatures examine wildlife illustration through a Sci-fi lens.

Colorless green ideas sleep furiously
Past: October 18 → November 5, 2011
« Colorless green ideas sleep furiously » est une phrase inventée en 1957 par Noam Chomsky, linguiste et philosophe américain. Dans Syntactic Structures, il l’utilise comme un exemple de phrase jamais encore prononcée par aucun être humain, syntaxiquement correcte mais sémantiquement absurde. Dépourvu a priori de sens, cet haïku fait écho au chaos ambiant.
