It sounds like the beginning of an old black and white film. It’s a family story, marked by lies and things left unsaid, with a quisling grandfather as the main character.

In removing the actors from this quintessential action movie, Bublex lets the scenery engulf the original Panavision widescreen format and emerge as the film’s true American hero.

Gilles Barbier — Artist Impression

The mouth is the entrance giving access to the space-tube and transit areas. I have long been obsessed by these spaces as I detect in them an aspect of our contemporary architecture. In particular that of data transfers: transport, transit of big data in the stomach. But also the architecture of the bodies’ circulation: metal detectors, underground, etc.

Project room : Theo Michael — Arthropodos

The obsessive drawings depict articulated and overlapping landscapes that are devoid of human figures but intelligent forces are implied. The artificial and the natural are merged and are now inhabited by 2D creatures that seem to have been installed there by a troglodyte that defaced the carefully rendered drawing.

Jean Tinguely — ’60s

At the same time that the Düsseldorf Kunstpalast is devoting a large retrospective to him (now until 14 August) which will then move to Amsterdam’s Stedelijk Museum, ’60s’ is to date the only French exhibition entirely dedicated to Jean Tinguely in this anniversary year.

While both are very fond of drawing, and are always prompt to cover entire pages from sketchbooks or whole sheets of paper, their work is to be seen in light of a polymorphic plastic production developing both in size and volume.

For the first Alain Jacquet exhibition the GP & N Vallois gallery decided to focus on the years 1961-1963. Patrick Jackson — Shelving Unit

Patrick Jackson presents in the project space “Shelving Unit”, a freestanding shelf composed of glass and matte black, plastic columns. Each column is shaped like a square morphing into a sphere, set between sheets of glass and alternately rotated, resulting in pillars reminiscent of Brancusi’s “Endless Column”.

For this exhibition, Martin Kersels questions the myth of the Olympus. Heaven for the gods, protected from men, the Olympus symbolised perfection, complete happiness, joy of life and plenty. And yet, after reading Homer’s “Odysseus”, the artist observed that gods, just as men, are not exempt from vileness, vices and mediocrity.

Parreno, the viewer is invited to listen to a conversation, worthy of Beckett’s play or the exchanges between the dogs in Kafka’s text. Several fake stones and logs gathered here question human behaviour. Yassef suggests we “witness the sculptures” which are “all set to talk”.

In my works a state and a process can be observed simultaneously, as if I were able to reveal simultaneously the envelope and the guts of painting and sculpture. Using video is almost like touching the “internal organs” of the world — Taro Izumi.

Paul Kos — Allegories and Metaphors (1968-2012)

Before the inauguration of his solo show at Galerie Georges-Philippe et Nathalie Vallois by Paul Kos, this Californian artist has been known in France essentially through a few emblematic pieces seen in group shows, and because of his presence in collections such as the Fondation Kadist and the Fonds Régional d’Art Contemporain Lorraine.

A junkie in the forest is a project about inspiration and wit. It is also a project about repetition, mechanical production and about the rote recombination of standardized elements. The cartoonist’s “gag-master”, an aleatoric device allows the user to compute tens of thousands of unique joke premises simply by spinning three concentric wheels.
