Yvan Salomone
Yvan Salomone’s works offer in an almost exclusive way industrial landscapes whose identity is pending and whose man is physically absent even if he is solely responsible for the silent spectacle that the artist portrays.
To realise a watercolor on paper, the artist starts in scouting, a gesture that truly structures its existence. He takes photos of theses spaces which save the materials and sometimes giants prints of human’s work.
Salomone then projects the selected photo again onto the sheet of paper on which, using the watercolour technique, the image is taken up. The singularity of his work lies in this encounter between the technique of watercolour, which at first glance could be described as outdated and nostalgic, and a rigorously contemporary approach. Apart from a documentary, his practice is closer to an intimate chronicle, an exploration of time and the impermanence of things.
