Serge Clément — Dépaysé
Past: November 14, 2014 → January 23, 2015
As a solitary journey into the heart of urban solitude and its periphery, particularly that of Montreal, Serge Clément’s work irresistibly draws the viewer into an intimate relationship to the image. The present always seems to be referring back to the memory of a fleeting instant charged with an emotion that is as intense as it is vague.

“In the middle of nowhere” is a paradoxical expression with a wide range of connotations (from irony to poetry, from disenchantment to contemplation), it is used to refer to an object or a place from a relatively unplaceable space. It indicates a remote thing or location that is out of the ordinary or that juts out unexpectedly from the flat immensity plane.
